About

About hushpair

hushpair is a private, text-only chat space for two people. It has two simple modes: create a room for someone you already know, or get matched with the next available person.

Why it exists

Most chat products are designed to expand: more identity, more permanence, more notifications, more sharing, more surface area. hushpair takes the opposite approach.

It is built for small, deliberate conversations where low friction and privacy matter more than profiles, growth loops, or social features.

Two ways to chat

Private rooms

Create a one-to-one room, share the invite link, and wait for the other person to enter. The room is limited to two people, has private bookmark links for returning, and expires automatically.

Anonymous matching

Start a search and hushpair pairs you with the next available person. Matching chats are still one-to-one, text-only, temporary, and include a Next flow when either person is ready to move on.

What both modes share

  • Text only.
  • Anonymous by default.
  • One conversation between two people.
  • Temporary by design.
  • Built with a strong preference for data minimization.

What it is not

  • Not a social network.
  • Not a group chat platform.
  • Not a place for advertising, audience building, or identity graphs.
  • Not designed to keep more data than it needs.

Product principles

  • Keep setup friction low.
  • Keep rooms small and temporary.
  • Keep data collection minimal.
  • Keep the interface quiet and compact.
  • Keep abuse prevention in scope from day one.
  • Keep the product honest about its limits.

Privacy posture

hushpair aims to avoid collecting identity data it does not need. Chat messages and nicknames are protected at rest, sensitive request parameters are filtered from logs, and rooms are designed to expire automatically rather than accumulate indefinitely.

Privacy here is a product decision, not just a policy statement.

What to expect

hushpair is intentionally narrow. It is built for simple invite-link conversations and lightweight anonymous matching, not for group chats, feeds, broad moderation workflows, or long-term message archives.

hushpair is experimental software. Please do not use it for sensitive, emergency, regulated, or legally important communications.
