Terms of Use
hushpair Terms of Use
Effective date: April 25, 2026. These Terms govern your use of hushpair. By using the service, you agree to them.
What hushpair provides
hushpair provides temporary text-only chat for private one-to-one conversations. You can create a private room and share an invite link, or use anonymous matching to be paired with the next available person.
hushpair is experimental beta software. Chats are always temporary and may be interrupted. Never share sensitive information, emergency information, regulated information, secrets, passwords, financial details, or anything you cannot afford to lose or expose.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use hushpair. If the laws where you live require a higher minimum age or additional consent, you are responsible for meeting those requirements.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use hushpair to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, exploit, or impersonate other people.
- Share unlawful content or use the service for unlawful conduct.
- Spam, flood rooms, or attempt to disrupt the service.
- Collect, solicit, or pressure others to provide personal contact details.
- Probe, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the security or operation of the service.
- Evade rate limits, moderation controls, or access restrictions.
Rooms, links, and access
Private chat rooms are temporary and may expire automatically. Invite links and return links are access credentials. Anyone with a valid link may be able to join or return to a room until that access expires or is invalidated.
Some access, including bookmark-style return access, may be limited to the same browser or session where it was created. You are responsible for how you share room links. hushpair cannot guarantee that a link forwarded beyond the intended recipient will remain private.
Anonymous matching
Matching connects you with another available person for a temporary one-to-one chat. Either person may end the chat or move on at any time. If a match ends, hushpair may return either participant to the matching flow.
Matching is not guaranteed. We may limit, delay, expire, cancel, or refuse matches to protect the service, reduce abuse, avoid rapid repeat pairings, or handle operational issues.
Moderation and enforcement
We may use rate limits, content screening, access restrictions, room expiration, or other safeguards to protect the service and its users. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to rooms or the service when we believe it is reasonably necessary for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or operational integrity.
Reporting and ending a chat are lightweight safety controls. Because hushpair is designed to minimize identity data, reports may not always support follow-up, account-level enforcement, or recovery of expired chat content.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. By using hushpair, you acknowledge that temporary processing, storage, and security controls are part of operating a live chat service.
Not for emergencies
hushpair is not an emergency service and should not be used for urgent safety, medical, or time-critical communications. We cannot guarantee immediate delivery, active monitoring, or continuous availability.
No guarantee of availability
hushpair is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, perfect delivery, permanent availability of rooms, or recovery of expired or deleted messages.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent allowed by law, hushpair disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and availability. We aim to operate the service carefully, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free, secure, or suitable for every use case.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, hushpair and its operators will not be liable for damages arising out of or related to your access to, use of, inability to use, interruption of, expiration of, or reliance on the service.
This includes indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, and loss of data, messages, goodwill, use, business opportunity, or expected benefit. If the law does not allow a particular limitation, that limitation applies only to the maximum extent allowed.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as hushpair evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page. Continued use of the service after updated Terms take effect means you agree to the revised Terms.
